Can you believe it’s already February?! This month has flown by. With February comes lots of exciting things – will the groundhog see his shadow or not? Valentine’s Day, Family Day long weekend (if you’re Canadian) and of course, the Super Bowl!
Now if you’re like me and you know nothing about football, the only reason you get excited for the Super Bowl is the excuse to eat lots of guilty pleasure foods. In fact, last year I’m pretty sure I brought a book to a Super Bowl party so I would have something to do after I’d eaten all those delicious wings.
So, in honour of this eating/sporting event, I’ve comprised a list of top 10 Super Bowl snack ideas that are sure to score a touchdown!
This dip has all the great flavour of chicken wings- only in a dip form! Serve it with blue cheese crumbles on top and some corn tortilla chips and your guests will be fighting over the last dip!
This recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction is by far my favourite for stuffed jalapeños.The filling is a mixture of cream cheese, cheddar and paprika. The cream cheese helps neutralize the spiciness of the jalapeño and the paprika adds a cheeky smoky flavour. I’ve also made these vegetarian by simply omitting the bacon.
These are a great lighter option for a Super Bowl snack. I find cauliflower is a great vessel for flavour (it also makes a great Cauliflower Crust Pizza!) Serve with blue cheese dip and you’re all set.
The combination of pork, grilled pineapple and cilantro in these tacos is to die for. I basically survived off of these when I lived in Mexico! Tacos make a great Super Bowl snack. Serve with some homemade guacamole and salsa.
This literally means “melted cheese” so what’s not to love? Especially when you add some spicy, crispy chorizo to the ooey gooey goodness. Serve with tortilla chips or warmed soft tortillas.
Why not mix it up a little at your Super Bowl party with Beergaritas? These are super easy to make and oh so delicious. The lime flavour compliments any Mexican-themed appetizers you might be serving.
If you’ve never had these amazing Dutch beef croquettes, you need to make them stat. I had bitterballen for the first time while I was in the Netherlands last night and developed an obsession. They’re the perfect crispy appetizer and they go amazingly with an ice cold beer (especially Heineken.) There best served hot with dijon mustard.
Chicken and waffles may be the best brunch food ever. And here’s a recipe for mini bite sized sandwiches with a sweet honey syrup to compliment the crispy fried chicken pieces. Besides, mini just means you can have more, right?
Every Super Bowl party needs some sweet snacks too! This sweet dip is sweet and creamy with bits of chocolate and salted toffee in every bite. If you like Skor bars, you can’t go wrong here. Serve with apple slices and mini cookies.
These mini football cookies are A) so freaking adorable and B) super easy to make with only 5 ingredients! Your guests will love the little football designs on these addictive, peanut butter and pretzel packed cookies.
I don’t know about you, but I’m full just looking at all these delectable Super Bowl snacks! Let me know what your favourite Super Bowl snack is.
